On March 4, 2018, Carassauga Festival Organizers and its Community Partners hosted a social event for recently immigrated Newcomer families and their children to Mississauga to introduce them to the cultural diversity that the City of Mississauga and Carassauga represent. Their goal is to encourage socializing, building new relationships, and creating community spirit among individuals.
The event was funded by the Government of Ontario and took place at Streetsville Legion (101 Church Street, Mississauga) from 4pm-7pm.
Invited guests were Mississauga Councillors Ron Starr and Chris Fonseca along with representatives of Carassauga Pavilions such as Vietnam, the Phillipines, Africa, Canada, etc… MiWay (a public transport agency serving Mississauga) is one of the major sponsors that provides free transportation for the duration of Carassauga festival was also on hand to provide support to the Newcomers.
